Hi, this is Hao Wu, I am glad to attend the "2020 ZVCA Sino Foreign Capital Cooperation Summit", which is sponsored by Zhongguancun Private Equity & Venture Capital Association ("ZVCA"). The theme of this summit is how could the private equity industry respond to the global economy that is hard hit by COVID-19 pandemic? How could Chinese and foreign capitals form a win-win cooperation? And more, how to share the potential benefits brought by future economic development and progress in technology?

Here, I want to share with you investment opportunities in the global renewable energy industry, with a special focus on solar industry. We mainly focus the largest solar markets, which include the United States, Europe, Japan and China. In the following, we are going to analyze what is going on in each of these markets, their relevant policies, possible trends for the next few years, and what are the investment opportunities.

美国市场
拜登在参选之初承诺,上任第一天即签署行政令,宣布美国重返《巴黎协定》并设定2050年“净零排放”目标;竞选过程中,拜登政府提出《清洁能源革命》计划的9个关键要素;建立一个新的跨机构高级研究项目机构ARPA-C,专注于气候变化,利用先进技术以帮助美国实现100%清洁能源目标。
The United States Market
The U.S. president-elect Joe Biden has promised during his campaign to sign an executive order upon taking the Oval Office to return to the Paris Agreement and reach "net zero emissions" by 2050; during campaigning, the Biden administration proposed nine key elements of the Clean Energy Revolution; and established ARPA-C, a new and advanced project researching interagency, which focuses on combating climate change and helping the United States to achieve the goal of 100% clean energy with advanced technologies.

根据预测,无论近期对光伏组件是否增加反倾销税,美国每年新建的光伏项目不会少于20GW。
Based on the forecast, even in the unfavorable situation that the anti-dumping duties are imposed on photovoltaic module imports in the near future, the new solar projects to be built in the United States will be no less than 20GW each year.

同时美国的储能(Energy Storage)市场也将是快速增长,到2030年美国的储能市场预计超过75GWh。
At the same time, the U.S. energy storage market will also grow rapidly, which is expected to exceed 75 GWH by 2030.

总体来看,虽然美国ITC会逐步下降,由于美国越来越多的州制定了明确的中长期的新能源代替传统化石能源的目标,以及光伏组件价格的逐步下降和转换效率的提高,美国的光伏投资在2050年之前的很长一段时间内会非常的蓬勃。
Overall, while the ITC (Investment Tax Credit) of the United States will gradually decline, the solar investment in the United States will be very vigorous until 2050, as more states set clear medium and long-term targets of renewable energy replacing traditional fossil energy, plus the gradual decline of photovoltaic module prices and the improvement of conversion efficiency.

同时,光伏与储能的结合能够进一步提高光伏这一新能源的可利用性,进一步减低用户的电力使用成本,同时各州也开始制定明确的储能目标,因此光伏+储能的市场在未来的中长期都具备很好的投资价值。
At the same time, the combination of solar and energy storage can further improve the availability of solar energy as a new energy source, and further reduce the cost of electricity. At the same time, states begin to formulate clear energy storage targets. Therefore, the solar energy & energy storage market has good investment opportunities in the medium and long term.

欧洲
欧洲的太阳能电站产业正蓬勃发展,主要原因是30/30指令要求到2030年将绿色能源产量提高到30% (目前为27%),到2050年碳排放量为0。
Europe
The solar industry in Europe is booming, mainly because the 30 / 30 Directive requires green energy production to be increased to 30% (from currently 27%) by 2030, and carbon emissions will be zero by 2050.

According to the data released by the report of European Power Sector 2019, renewable energy power generation (excluding hydropower) increased by 6.5 billion kwh in 2019, accounting for 35% of the total power generation in the EU. 日本于2012年7月1日启动固定上网电价政策(FIT),大于10kW光伏系统上网电价为40日元/度,补贴20年;不足10kW的光伏系统上网电价为42日元/度,补贴10年,此后的上网电价每年调整。
Japan
Japan started the Fixed feed-in tariff policy (FIT) on July 1, 2012. The on-grid price of solar system bigger than 10kW is 40 yen / kwh for 20 years; less than 10kW is 42 yen / kwh, will be subsidized for 10 years. Since then, the on-grid price has been adjusted downward annually.

随着FIT政策的推出,日本每年的光伏安装量呈现了爆发式的增长,年新增安装量在2015年达到峰值10.8GW。之后,随着FIT价格的缩减,年新增安装量有所下降。
With the launch of FIT, Japan's annual solar installation has increased explosively, with the annual new installation reaching a peak of 10.8GW in 2015. After that, following the decline in FIT price, the annual new installation quantity gradually decreased.

In the past few years, the 10kw-50kw industrial and commercial solar projects accounted for Japan’s second largest annual installation among various types of solar projects. Although the installed quantity has decreased since 2015, from the 33.5% peak in 2015 to 27.4% in 2018, it still largely exceeds the installation bases of domestic rooftop power stations and industrial and commercial power stations greater than 50KW. With limited availability of large-scale ground power station opportunities and the decline in FIT subsidies, industrial and commercial solar power stations will draw more attention from investors.

中国提出,二氧化碳排放于2030年前达到峰值,努力争取2060年前实现碳中和。结合中国在巴黎气候大会的承诺和中国能源转型发展战略目标,到2020年,中国可再生能源占能源消费比重将达 15%,2030年达20%,2050年达50%以上。考虑到2019年中国可再生能源占能源消费比重已达15.3%,提前一年完 成目标; 2030年占比20%大概率将提前完成。
China
China proposed to reach peak of its carbon dioxide emission by 2030 and to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060. Combined with China's commitment at the Paris Climate Conference and China's strategic goal of energy transformation and development, China's renewable energy will account for 15% of energy consumption by 2020, 20% by 2030 and more than 50% by 2050. Considering that the proportion of renewable energy in China's energy consumption has reached 15.3% in 2019, the target for 2020 was already achieved one year ahead of schedule; 20% by 2030 will be likely achieved ahead of schedule as well.

预计到2021-2025年,如果可再生能源占比在17.5%~20%区间,中国光伏年均装机量有望达43~92GW。
It is estimated that by 2021-2025, if the proportion of renewable energy is between 17.5% and 20%, the annual installed capacity of solar energy in China is expected to reach 43-92GW per year.

光伏是过去十年降本幅度最大的可再生能源,平价上网走进现实。2010年至2020年,全球光伏发电加权平均成本从 0.378$/kWh迅速下滑至0.068$/kWh,降幅高达82%。技术进步、规模效应和供应链竞争是推动本轮光伏降底成本的主因,未来仍有较大降本空间。
Solar market has seen the largest cost reduction in the past ten years. Reaching price parity has become a reality. From 2010 to 2020, the weighted average cost of global solar power generation dropped from 0.378 dollar/ kWh to 0.068 dollar/ kWh, a 82% decline. Technological progress, scalability, and supply chain competition are the main drivers for this round of solar cost reduction, and there will be more opportunity for further cost reduction in the future.

The global polysilicon production technology was dominated by international giants in the early years. With the improvement of China's polysilicon technology, China's photovoltaic polysilicon production capacity began to expand in 2009, accounting for an increasing proportion of the global market. In 2017, the China contributed more than 50% of global production. In 2019, the domestic polysilicon production capacity was at 45.2GW, accounting for 69.2% of the world capacity.

The dominating market share shows that China has become the silicon wafer manufacture powerhouse. In 2019, the global silicon wafer production capacity was at 185GW, China had 180GW; the global silicon wafer production was at 138GW, China produced 135GW. In 2010, the global silicon wafer production capacity and output were only 33 and 23 GW.

Sky Solar Holdings is a global independent power producer (IPP), which develops, owns and operates solar power projects around the world. Through June 30, 2019, Sky Solar Holdings had developed and completed more than 300 solar power plant projects in China, Japan, Greece, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Spain, the United States, Canada, Chile and Uruguay.

美国业务范围:
天华目前在美国的业务主要是在光伏政策最佳的纽约州和马萨诸塞州开展,今年完成25MW开发转让,并每年保持10MW项目储备;包括加州和其他州的业务也在积极筹备中,会适时的开展。
US business scope:
Sky Solar’s business in the United States mainly focuses on New York and Massachusetts markets, which have the best policies in renewables. This year, the Company has developed and transferred 25 MW solar projects; and maintained 10MW of yearly project reserves. The solar opportunities in California and other states are also under active consideration and will be carried out in due time.

For the past decade, the Company has developed more than 300MW solar projects, with full capabilities ranging from project development, technical solutions, EPC management to project operation and maintenance.

The Europe was Sky Solar’s first market. The Company has been operating in the European market for more than ten years. Now, the business in the Europe mainly locates in the Czech Republic and Bulgaria, in addition to offices in Luxembourg and Spain.

Sky Solar has two business lines in the Europe: solar power plant investment business line (IPP), and operation and maintenance management business line (O&M).

Following a reviving trend of the European solar market, Sky Solar Holdings is ready to expand the business in the Europe together with right partners. Currently, the new projects under research mainly locate in Bulgaria, Romania, northern Macedonia, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands and Greece. In 2021, we are working on a 30 MW solar power plant projects in Bulgaria together with our partners and participate in the bidding for the 400 MW government solar power station project in northern Macedonia.

Japan
Sky Solar Japan was established in 2009, focusing on the development, investment, construction and operation of solar power stations in Japan. Through September 2020, the Company owns 63 operating projects with a total capacity of 99MW in Japan, with another 7 projects are under construction, with a total capacity of 66MW. There are ten more projects under development, with a total capacity of 70MW. More and more Japanese cities will apply distributed energy and microgrid to reconstruct their energy infrastructure. Distributed solar power stations will become the mainstream in the future in Japan. In addition, thanks to the expiration of the previous residential roof top solar FIT contract, Japan's energy storage market will experience explosive growth in the short term. Therefore, the energy storage system that fits the residential and distributed solar power stations in Japan will become the next growth phase in the Japanese solar market.

截止2019年12月31日持有并运营平价上网工商业分布式电站3座,3.54MW;储备项目超过300MW,其中较后期项目储备约100MW。
China
